I’m a product of
LA shaped by baseball,
sunshine and smog.
Growing up in this city showed me that anything is possible, even when it makes no sense.
A place with millions of people living in a desert? The economy is built on fiction. And where fame is currency but privacy is luxury.
Experiencing sharp contrasts have shaped my values and how I see the world, the pros and cons, the haves and have-nots, and the good and the bad, each defining the other.
I am a recovering childhood athlete that now prefers the quiet competition of yoga to traditional sports. But get me in front of a ping-pong table and I will show no mercy.
Driving past the hand painted billboards of the latest movies and TV shows on the way to sweeping floors in my fathers decorative glass and mirror shop on Melrose imprinted on me the honesty of craft as a way of life.
My 2006 Scion Xa - AKA “The Mosquito” a simple, reliable, efficient, manual mode of transportation. It’s not sexy or flashy but it gets the job of transportation done well!
The outdoors keeps me grounded, whether it is an annual father son backpacking trip or summer surfing on the Oregon coast, nature rejuvenates and teaches lessons in patience and perspective.
My appreciation for the outdoors and experiencing pollution in LA, Beijing, and now every other city downwind of wildfires compelled me to do more for the climate. My co-founder and I started the Climate Freedom Project to create more action on protecting and preserving our climate.
This is ‘Life Calendar’ divided by squares, each representing one week, totaling 100 years. When life is seen in this context it helps me focus and see time with more focus and perspective.
So much packed into a basic pen. Assembled by blind or visually impaired workers this pen is the epitome of simple, functional design. And it clicks! Great for annoying co-workers or spouses.
“Time will tell”, “make lemonade out of lemons”, whatever the phrase it’s good to TRY to stay in the moment.
